Kizomba Progressive Course: 

Kizomba and Tarraxo Progressive Course: 

Kizomba (all styles) Beginner 1 is for Absolute Beginners

This 8-week course (1.5 hours) is for new students who want to learn how to dance Kizomba, no prior experience is required and no partner is required. (This class is the foundation and pre-requirement for Semba, Kizomba, Kizomba Fusion, Urban Kiz and Douceur styles)

We will cover basic steps & rotations in closed position, connection, posture, walking, leading & following skills, timing & musicality and the skills to understand how to be creative with your vocabulary on the social dance floor.

Tarraxo (all styles) Beginner 1 is for Absolute Beginners

This 8-week course (1 hour) is for new students who want to learn how to dance Tarraxo, no prior experience is required and no partner is required. (This class is the foundation and pre-requirement for Tarraxo, Tarraxa, Tarraxhina and Douceur styles)

We will cover basic steps & body moves and isolations in a closed position focusing on the hips and legs, connection, posture, leading & following skills, timing & musicality and the skills to understand how to be creative with your vocabulary on the social dance floor.

 

Kizomba (all styles) Beginner 2 & 3

This 8-week course (1.5 hours) is for experienced beginners; we will dive deeper into kizomba by exploring open-frame positions that open up your dance to many more possibilities. (This class is the second part of the foundation and pre-requirement for Semba, Kizomba, Kizomba Fusion, Urban Kiz and Douceur styles)

We will cover more techniques in our footwork, frame, connection, and timing and also learn the foundation of all open frame positions in partner work as we explore more ways to get creative on the social dance floor.

Pre-requisite for this level: Must have completed a Beginner 1, and/or you must have a strong foundation of the Beginner fundamentals of Kizomba before taking this Level.

 

Tarraxo (all styles) Beginner 2 & 3 is for Absolute Beginners

 This 8-week course (1 hour) is for new students who want to learn how to dance Tarraxo (different material from Beginner 1), no prior experience is required and no partner is required. (This class is the foundation and pre-requirement for Tarraxo, Tarraxa, Tarraxhina and Douceur styles) We will cover basic steps & body moves and isolations in a closed position focusing on the upper body and different footwork, connection, posture, leading & following skills, timing & musicality and the skills to understand how to be creative with your vocabulary on the social dance floor.

 

Kizomba Advanced beginner Walking patterns

We were offered as a 4 week course. Learn new and creative ways to become a better social dancer! We will cover different variations of step patterns using mostly the beginner 1 through 3 steps, plus ways to be more musical and creative. We will also introduce body movements and footwork for different styles. In this course, we will work on our Semba, Kizomba, Kizomba Fusion and Urban Kiz. The patterns, variations, styles and steps covered in this course will change from cycle to cycle.

Prerequisite for this level: Must have taken at least 4-6 months of dancing or have a strong understanding of Kizomba timing, footwork, leading & following, walking patterns and body movement. Approval by instructors is recommended to join this class. 

 

We highly recommend taking at least 2-4 cycles of this level 

 

Tarraxo Advanced Beginner Moves

We were offered as a 4 week course. Learn new and creative ways to become a better social dancer! We will cover different variations of body moves/isolations and step patterns using mostly the beginner 1 through 3 steps, plus ways to be more musical and creative. We will also introduce body movements and footwork for different styles Tarraxo, Tarraxa, Tarraxhina and Douceur styles. In this course, we will work on our patterns, variations, styles and steps covered in this course will change from cycle to cycle.

Path 1:

Our beginner/intermediate Intensive Training Program AKA ITP. This is 12 weeks 1.5 hours of training, designed to stimulate improvement and help you become a better Social dancer! LEARN MORE…

 

Path 2

Intermediate Kizomba/Urban Kiz/Kizomba Fusion/Semba (recommended 4 – 6 cycles) 

Our 4-week Intermediate class takes you deeper into more advanced concepts of one of the styles! We will add more dynamics, musicality, body control, and style into more challenging step patterns, lead and follow techniques & footwork. Including new techniques for turns, slides, lifts, traps and fakes. At the same time, continue to work on your creativity and floor craft to improve your social dance skills.

Each week we progressively add more complex tools building up to a better understanding of a move, its variations and how to get into and out of it, so you will be able to continue practicing and build muscle memory. Get ready for an energetic class that will take your dancing to the next level! Must have at least 1 year of dancing Kizomba consistently and be able to execute more advanced footwork and step patterns on the dance floor

 

ITP

Fall Cycle: 12 Weeks

Winter Cycle: 16 Weeks

2 Cycle Mandatory

Intensive Training Program

The Intensive Training Programs (ITPs) are designed to help students improve their social dancing abilities. It focused on Skills Training through drills, exercises, variations on steps and repetition designed to help dancers improve their fundamentals and become more fluid with their social dancing. Our Fall Cycle is 12 Weeks and our Winter Cycle is 16 Weeks, 2 Cycle Mandatory. 

 

Urban Kiz Beginner/Intermediate ITP

This program focuses on Urban Kiz fundamentals and transitioning students from general Kizomba foundations to more tailored training for Urban Kiz.1st cycle focuses on new variations of step patterns, frame, footwork and general rhythm and introduces variations to the basic open frame movements of the walk around, hinge and saidas as well as basic body movement. 

2nd cycle focuses on new variations of step patterns, frame, footwork, including turns, lifts, slides and blocks and general rhythm and introduces variations to the basic open frame movements of the Shadow and t-bone positions, and 180 positions as well as basic body movement.

 

Urban Kiz Intermediate/Advanced ITP
